Axcess - Creating a return for an new client


The process for creating a return for a new client and creating a return for an existing client are slightly different. The steps below outline How to Create a Return for an Existing Client.

  • From the CCH Axcess folder on your Desktop launch Tax to open the Return Manager 
  • Select the Home Tab > Select the New dropdown in the ribbon and select New Return
     
  • Type in the client ID with trailing sub ID (In most cases this will be .000)
  • Select the client ID that appears
  • The fields for Tax year, Return type, and Return configuration will fill in automatically 
  • Confirm the correct Tax Year is selected 
  • Confirm the correct Return Type is selected
  • Confirm the correct Return Configuration is selected
  • Enter a Return Description, if applicable   
  • Confirm the correct Return Template is selected 
  • Select Create Return
     
  • If creating a return in the same year as a previously prepared return, a window will appear allowing you to create a new version of the return

*Note*: If you are creating a new version that will be filed, please turn off proforma and organizer processing for any other versions

Turn off Proforma and Organizer processing | Knowledge Base | KSM IT 

  • Select New Version to create the next Version of the return
  • Enter a Description for the subsequent version of the return
  • The return will open
  • Select the Axcess icon in the top left of the screen and select Save immediately 
  • Save Early, Save Often


*Note*: Failure to select Save will result in the return not being created. You will have complete this process again.
