ISSUE: Predecessor Firm uses Lacerte to prep returns. 

 SOLUTION: This guide can be provided to predecessor Firm to give us the backups needed to convert to Axcess Tax. 

  Lacerte Client Data Conversions

• Create a new folder – Lacerte Backup
• Open Lacerte for the tax year to be converted
• Click Client in the upper left corner and from the dropdown select Tax Type
• Highlight the returns to be converted.
  1. Only those returns to be converted should be included in the backup. Pressing F3 from the keyboard will allow a group select. Verify that no returns in the selected batch are password protected.
• Click Client in the upper left corner and from the dropdown select Backup
• Navigate to the Lacerte Backup folder created previously, using the browse option. Click OK to continue.
• Repeat for all additional return types to be backed up.
  1. Separate folders for each return type are not required. All return types should be backed up to the Lacerte Backup folder.
• Zip the backup by right-clicking on the Lacerte Backup folder.
  1. Alternate processes for compressing/encrypting your backup will prevent conversion.
• Select Send To/Compressed (Zipped) folder and save the zip file to your Desktop.
