PE - Moving PE job to Signature Review without an Axcess ID
ISSUE: A PE job will not allow a job without a valid Axcess ID to be moved to Signature Review. SOLUTION: If there is a PE return job that does not use Axcess to prep the return follow the steps below. Find the job in PE that you wish to move to Signature Review. In the Job Code field add _NOAXCESS to the end of the code. Click the Save Changes button. At that point you can change the Job Status and move it to Signature Review.

Issue: Jobs are missing from the active or Inactive Jobs list Solution: PE saves the user's last search and this can cause issues when trying to view active or inactive jobs. The user will need to clear the below-indicated field if jobs are not being displayed correctly.

Axcess Tax - How to setup a state only job
ISSUE: I have a state-only return that I am preparing in Axcess Tax. When I set up a new job in PE and associate the job to my original return id, the job keeps coming back IRS-approved. What is the correct process to set up a job in PE for a state-only return? RESOLUTION: CCH Axcess Tax Open the federal return in CCH Axcess Tax Select FIle > Save As (to create a new version of the return) > Enter a version description In the new version, suppress the proforma of the return. Please refer to this KB article Axcess Tax - Proforma and Organizer suppression in return Please make certain that the federal and any undesired states do not transmit with the new export PLEASE NOTE: if you export a 2nd, or 3rd, etc. return for efiling, you need to make certain that all previous versions have been transmitted first. Failure to do so will result in any "Ready to Release" returns being overwritten. Axcess Tax - Launch the E-Filing Status System Practice Engine: Create a new job in Practice Engine, making certain to use the correct entity template Associate the state-only job with the newly created return version (this may take an hour to sync) If you have already associated the job, we will need to reset the record to make certain it is not associated with the PE job tied to the federal return

Practice Engine - How to request to release return without signed 8879s
ISSUE: 8879s are not on hand staff/partner cannot obtain from the client. 8879s cannot be located in the fax system, sharefile, email, DMS, etc. note: This is not standard practice as it subjects the firm to several liabilities note: This is the only way to get the return into the efiling queue. Efiling staff are not authorized to release without this confirmation RESOLUTION: Access the specific client job in PE Select the Details tab Select the Axcess Tax Information/Delivery dropdown Select Axcess Tax Information Select the 8879 EFile Release without 8879 tab Select Release Return Confirm the warning This process will approve the return for efiling. The return will go into the auto efiling queue and get released during the next run. Each run is approximately every 30 minutes. This process is only available to partners.

ISSUE: Job association is only automatic if there is 1 version of a current year return AND the return is a calendar year If the return has a new version, the correct version return will need to be associated If the return is superseded, the association will need to be edited to select the superseded option If staff receive error trying to advance job to Signature Review RESOLUTION: Open Practice Engine (PE) > Locate the client and the job you are interested in associating Select Details > Axcess Tax Information/Delivery > Axcess Tax Information Locate and select the specific return ID including year, client number and version Select the Return Type Select Save Selection
