Axcess - Creating a return for a new client


The process for creating a return for a new client and creating a return for an existing client are slightly different. The steps below outline How to Create a Return for a New Client 


For existing clients use the article instead: Axcess - Creating a return for an existing client | Knowledge Base | KSM IT  

  • From the CCH Axcess folder on your Desktop launch Tax to open the Return Manager 
  • Select New Return 

  • Type in the new client ID with trailing sub ID (In most cases this will be .000)
  • Click the Add New Client button
  • The Add Client window will appear as shown below 
  • Select the correct Client Type
  • Select the Office
  • Select the Business Unit, if applicable 
  • Verify the Client ID and Client sub-ID are correct
  • Select Full Name and enter the client name
  • Select the correct Return Group
  • Social Security numbers can also be added here


       

  • Select OK to create the Client.


*Note*: After you select OK the Client is created. If you cancel the process after selecting OK you will be creating a return for an existing Client.

  • Confirm the correct Tax Year is selected 
  • Confirm the correct Return Type is selected 
  • Confirm the correct Return Configuration is selected 
  • Enter a Return Description, if applicable
  • Confirm the correct Return Template is selected 
  • Select Create
  • The return will open
  • Select the Axcess icon in the top left of the screen and select Save immediately
  • Save Early, Save Often


*Note*: Failure to Save will result in the return not being created and you will have to create a return for an existing client
