Practice Engine - Axcess Tax - Ready to Release
ISSUE: How do I use Practice Engine to see all Ready to Release tax returns for me or for anyone in my group? RESOLUTION: Open PE > Staff > Staff workflow dashboard Select the Axcess Tax - Ready to Release tab Select the staff name to review > Refresh HOW TO USE: This dashboard will show you all returns that are in the CCH Axcess Tax efiling system as Ready to Release. These could show up for a variety of reasons, some examples are shown below. The return was extended, but then subsequently exported and not released The 8879s have not been sent, received, etc. The 8879s have been sent and received, but they were associated with the wrong job during barcoding A return was exported after the initial return and states were released/accepted A rejected return has been corrected and re-exported, but no notification was identified to release the return again An amended return was exported but the 8879s did not come back or were associated with the wrong job A superseded return was exported but no indication was given that the return needed to be released Use the following steps to setup the dashboard to identify Ready to Release returns that are categorized by Product, Work status and Client Name. Drag the following fields to the search bar: Product, Work Status, Client Name Expand the Product you are interested in Expand the status to review Expand the clients to review

Practice Engine - How to add International Tax job to client for FBAR
ISSUE: Client does not have an International job setup to be used for FBAR filing You are NOT allowed to copy a job and change the name for FBAR filing as this will keep the job from ever getting auto-released RESOLUTION: Open the Jobs listing for the client From the top of the window, select New Job Select OK to the Alert that appears Confirm that there is not already an International Job that needs to be rolled forward Once the New Job screen appears, select the following: Select a Service = International Tax Select a Template = [TTTT] FINCEN 114 Job timing = select relevant options Job Management = select relevant options Job Code = leave default Job Name = leave default, change if necessary Select Create

Practice Engine - Release a Rejected Return
ISSUE: A return has been Rejected, Corrected, Exported, and now needs to be Released by staff. SOLUTION: If you have a rejected return, you should receive a notification e-mail from the auto e-filing ticketing system. That email will sometimes include guidance on how to fix the error. Other times you will need to access the Axcess E-Filing System to locate the rejection message. Once the rejection has been corrected you will need to calculate and export the return for filing. How to check for rejected return explanation. **NOTE** If the PE Job is highlighted in RED, shown below, then PE has recognized that the return was rejected and you can release it from PE. Open PE and search for the job, or you can open the job directly from the rejection notification e-mail Click on the dropdown arrow next to Axcess Tax Information and select Axcess Tax Information Click on the EFile Status tab and then select Release Rejected Return to IRS This will drop the return back into the auto release queue for filing

Practice Engine - Clearing Application Caches
Issue(s): KSM Analytics and Reporting are navigating to "Staff Search" instead of the correct links. Issues with rendering a Page in PE that a Hard Cache Dump does not resolve. Solution: Select "Help" and "Browser Details" Select "Clear/Delete" for all listed objects.

PE - Show Legacy Code
ISSUE: Staff would like to display the new KSM client code AND the legacy Client code while using PE SOLUTION: Select Client Search => PE Client Search Access the Column Selection: Click on the "Columns" button located on the right side of the page. Select and Order Columns: In the "Select and Order Columns" popup, drag and drop the "Legacy Code" column from the "Available" list to the "Selected" list. Save Changes: Once you've added the "Legacy Code" column to the "Selected" list, click the "Save" button to apply the changes. Open the Client Search Page: Navigate to the Client Search page and enter your search term (e.g., "12050") in the search bar.

PE - How to Locate Your Unique ID for Tax Returns
ISSUE: Staff cannot find unique ID to be used for CCH Axcess Tax personal returns RESOLUTION: Click link to open Practice Engine/Staff Search If you already have PE open, navigate to Staff - Search Enter your name to search for in the Search field > press Enter Click on the word Columns (not the drop-down) Drag the field Staff Code to the right and place it under Office > Select Save Your Unique Staff Code will appear in the column

Cannot print invoices from A/R in PE
ISSUE: Cannot print invoices from A/R in PE. The message you would get would be: Sorry, but the browser you are using does not have native support for previewing PDF files. Plugins are not supported for security reasons. We recommend upgrading to a browser with PDF support such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge however you may download the report by clicking here. SOLUTION: Open Google Chrome. In the address bar, paste: chrome://settings/content/pdfDocuments Ensure "Open PDFs in Chrome" is enabled.
