ISSUE: Receiving the message "You are not a staff member assigned to this binder" RESOLUTION: Manager and above have the ability to assign staff to a binder. Express synch the binder to your local file room Right-click over the binder and select properties > binder staff Select Assign Select *ALL KSM* only or select the specific staff's group or name Select OK > OK > Express synch the binder back to the KSM CFR or to the staff, if in Field mode

Engagement - ERROR - Excel security notice
ISSUE: The following warning message appears when you try to use Insert WP Reference, Insert TB Link or Paste TB Import in a Microsoft Excel file in CCH ProSystem fx Engagement or Workpaper Manager: "Microsoft Excel Security Notice - Microsoft Office has identified a potential security issue. Automatic update of links has been disabled. If you choose to enable automatic update of links, your computer may no longer be secure. Do not enable this content unless you trust the source of this file" Clicking the "Enable" button results in the following message: "Sorry, Excel can't open two workbooks with the same name at the same time." RESOLUTION: On the Run line, enter %appdata%\Microsoft\Excel, then press Enter. Delete all Excel*.xlb files. Open and close Microsoft Excel, the XLB file is recreated. Open Engagement and proceed with the task you were working on.

Engagement - ERROR - Enable Macros Excel
ISSUE: Error message when opening Microsoft Excel. "Macros must be enabled in order to use this workbook" when opening a PPC Checkpoint Tools workpaper within CCH ProSystem fx Engagement. SOLUTION: In Excel, select File > Options Select Trust Center > Trust Center Settings Select Macro Settings Select Enable VBA Macros Select Trust access to the VBA project object model You must ALSO add the PPC and Engagement path to the Microsoft Office Trusted Locations. Open a Microsoft Excel workbook and click File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings. This is to trust the Engagement location Click Trusted Locations > Add New location. In the Path box, enter C:\Pfx Engagement\WM\Workpapers\. Select the check box Subfolders of this location are also trusted. Click OK. This is to trust the PPC location Click Trusted Locations > Add New location. In the Path box, enter C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\PPC\. Select the check box Subfolders of this location are also trusted. Click OK. Select the check box "Allow Trusted Locations on my network (not recommended)." Note: While the option is listed as not recommended, if you are working with Microsoft Excel workbooks that originated on a network location or are linked from a network location, this option is required for functionality. Close Excel Proceed with opening the desired workpaper FINAL SOLUTION: Remove the Excel template file Delete C:\Users\tmiller\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\Excel15.xlb Delete all folders/files except XLSTART from C:\Users\tmiller\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel Windows key > type appwiz.cpl > locate both of the following applications and repair them (versions should match) Check WP again. Engagement - Unfinalize Binder
ISSUE: A discovery was made in a finalized binder that requires the binder to be unfinalized. RESOLUTION: The requesting staff needs to secure permission in order to have the binder unfinalized. Only BusApps staff can unfinalize a binder. Staff sends email requesting the binder to be unfinalized and why Need to include Help Desk, Client partner and Scott Price Once both partners approve, BusApps/Help Desk will unfinalize the binder and notify the requesting staff

Engagement - Pfx Ribbon Add-Ins - How to reinstall
ISSUE: The Pfx.Ribbon.ExcelAddin or Pfx.Ribbon.WordAddin add-ins to Excel and Word will not stay enabled, or if the Engagement tab is missing in either application. SOLUTION: The steps below detail how to reinstall to resolve issues with these add-ins. *Notes*: Be sure to first run the AppChecker applition from the following solution: Engagement Tab Not Showing In Excel | Knowledge Base | KSM IT (ksmcpa.com) If after running the issue still exists proceed to reinstall. If only one application is having the issue only uninstall and reinstall the corresponding add-in for that application Open the Control Panel Click on the windows button and type appwiz.cpl and press the Enter key your keyboard. Click Programs and Features Scroll through the program list and locate the following: Pfx.Ribbon.Exceladdin Pfx.Ribbon.Wordaddin Uninstall the affected add-in Browse to C:\Pfx Engagement\WM Find the .vsto that corresponds to the application add-in needed Double-click on the .vsto file listed to re-install Open Word or Excel and check the add-in

Engagement - Move Binder to Different Client
ISSUE: Need to move a binder from one client folder to another client folder RESOLUTION: To move a binder from an existing client folder to a new client folder, do the following: Make sure the Source binder is in the Local File Room. Make sure the Target binder is in the Local File Room. If the client folder does not exist you will need to create the client. Drag the desired binder from the existing client folder and drop it into the destination client folder. Synchronize the binder to make the change in the Central File Room. Make sure the binder is removed from all other staff local file rooms as this will cause other issues if the open and sync

ISSUE: Trying to open an excel file and nothing happens No error is present Excel process does not start/stop RESOLUTION: In reviewing the detail of the file, it was received from the client Determined that the file had an .XLSB file extension Excel files with .XLSB files are NOT supported in Engagement Open the file outside of Engagement > File > Save As > new name with .XLSX format Bring the file back into Engagement and confirm opening

Engagement - Update epace.xla Location
ISSUE: Engagement does not show the actual name in the title bar. It shows numbers/letters #NAME? is showing in cells that link back to the trial balance I am getting errors when trying to publish workpapers SOLUTION: The path to the Engagement add-in for Excel has changed and needs to be manually updated Open Excel Select File > Options > Add-ins From Manage > select Excel Add-ins > Go Select browse on the right > navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\Library > Select epace.xla Select Yes to replace the current Epace add-in Close Excel and re-open Check any Engagement based Excel file ALTERNATE SOLUTION: Screen Connect to backstage > registry Locate Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Excel\options - OPEN = "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\LIBRARY\epace.xla"
